director's note

Any theater purporting to address issues of social justice cannot ignore the movement for women’s equality. Gina Gionfriddo is an important American playwright: her play Becky Shaw was a 2009 finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and Rapture, Blister, Burn was a 2013 finalist. She has also written for the television series Law & Order. She studied at Brown University with Paula Vogel, another influential feminist writer.
